Medical Laboratory Technology is the study of Clinical Laboratory Science. The role of technician in the laboratory is the collection of blood, storage of specimen, handling of the apparatus, accurate measuring, proper investigation of specimen and accurate reporting are usually the responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician. The interpretation and clinical significance of testing knowledge is required for the laboratory technician.
Clinical laboratory tests on Clinical Hematology, Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Microbiology and Clinical Pathology. DMLT/CMLT students are specifically trained to work as technicians in the pathology laboratories. They are able to run a Clinical Pathology Laboratory under the supervision of Pathologist. They may be employed in a small laboratory functioning independently or attached to a doctor’s clinic.
